I have one big OneNote notebook that I need also on my Windows Phone. While this notebook was not very big synchronization worked well on both WP8 and WP10. But after growing over 120MB both phones had suddenly synchronization issues. Notebook was usually synchronized partially with many pages missing from WP and some changes to existing pages were never synchronized to phone. This blog post provides one not so nice solution for these problems.

Our beer cooling solution is not controllable through IoT Hub and it reports data there. We can control our device through simple command line application but it is not enough for us. When building application that works both on WinRT and Window Phone you use Portable Class Libraries (PCL) for shared classes. As there are many application specific things that are not same on different platforms or that are not supported by PCL then you have to make some architectural decisions when creating shared functionalities. In this posting I will focus on persisting data for offline use.

In my posting Windows Phone 7 Series development: reading RSS feeds I showed how to read RSS feeds using XmlReader. Although I hoped to start pimping up user interface I found some more work that needs to do be done. In this posting I will show you how to use WebBrowser control to display RSS content. One limitation on Windows Phone 7 is related to System.Net namespace classes. There is no convenient way to read data from web. There is no WebClient class. There is noGetResponse() method – we have to do it all asynchronously because compact framework has limited set of classes we can use in our applications to communicate with internet. In this posting I will show you how to read RSS-feeds on Windows Phone 7.
